Water Heater Incentive

When installing a new heat pump/hybrid water heater for new home construction or replacing an existing gas water heater, Bartholomew County REMC will reimburse:

  • $500 for a heat pump/hybrid water heater (all in one units).
  • Recommend Tier 3 or higher rating on Northweat Energy Efficiency Alliance’s (NEEA) Advanced Water Heater qualified products for northern climates at NEEA.

* No incentives for standard tank water heaters or tankless water heaters.

Requirements To Qualify for This Program:

  • Minimum 40 gallon size
  • Must be Energy Star certified
  • Must show proof of sale, brand name, model and serial number, size and make.

ENERGY STAR certified HPWHs can save the average household approximately $250 per year on its electric bills compared to a standard electric water heater. Larger families — that typically use more hot water — will save even more!

While a certified HPWH costs more upfront, the savings will pay back the difference in about three years for a typical home. Replace your aging electric water heater before it fails, and start enjoying the savings right away.

No rebates will be given on tankless water heaters… why?
