The idea behind “time of use” rates is that they better reflect the true cost of electricity when it's produced and at its highest demand.
Time-of-Use allows members to have greater control over their electric bill. By reducing electricity use during times when it’s more expensive, you can take advantage of cheaper electricity being offered at the off-peak times.
New peak times starting June 1 are weekday evenings in the summer (June, July, and August) from 3 to 6 p.m. and in the winter, weekday mornings from 8 to 10 a.m. and evenings 6 to 8 p.m. in the winter (December, January, and February). All off-peak months, all weekends and holidays are considered off-peak.
The important thing to remember is that the TOU rate will give members an opportunity to control their bills by shifting use to the lower cost, off-peak periods. If you would like to sign up for the rate or for more information visit our Time-of-Use Program page.
